Dr. Mugambi Laibuta is a respected Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) with over 15 years of legal practice. He is widely recognized for his expertise in privacy, data protection, and technology governance, making him one of Africa’s leading voices in the digital rights space.
A PhD graduate from the University of the Witwatersrand, Dr. Laibuta’s groundbreaking research focused on privacy and data protection in Kenya. His academic and practical insights continue to shape key conversations around policy, law, and regulatory development across the continent.
Dr. Laibuta also serves as a faculty member at the Kenya School of Law, where he teaches Legal Writing and Legislative Drafting, mentoring the next generation of legal professionals. He is the current Chairperson of the Data Privacy and Governance Society of Kenya, where he leads national efforts to strengthen privacy frameworks and data governance.
